Kick starting your self-development
Recently I booked onto a course due to a recommendation from a friend of mine. I had very much considered myself as sorted previously so just thought heading along and checking the reason for the buzz would be good. Chris Howard was totally new to me but having heard really good reviews of him and done other peoples course I was keen to find out about his brand of self-development. I was completely unprepared for what I experienced though, it was awesome. Three full on days of self-development that went right to the core. During those three days we all, approximately 800 of us, shifted through some major self discovery.
From day one we were tearing into what patterns we had created in our lives, getting into the core of why we had been getting the results we had. Results that universally everyone was less than happy about. As we went on through the second day we went deeper locating more problems and issues needing resolution, enjoying aha moments in places, and then starting to take action and make changes. I’ll state it plain here, over the first two days we went from 9am through to 11pm, so were all going into it pretty seriously and deeply. The third day took us deeper into the self-development we had been wanting, working away we created better resources and abilities to get more out of our futures than we could previously have achieved. The resources that we picked up with our self-development were ones we can use over and over again in order to remain on track and achieve the results we desire, resources that could be of serious benefit to those who use them.
If you have been seeking a breakthrough to success then I can whole heartedly recommend going to Chris Howards Breakthrough to Success event. The event is free and seriously worth going to as it can transform your life.
Improve Your Short Term Memory With These Easy Tricks
Remembering current information for example where we left our car keys and the name of a person we recently met are only a few of the abilities of our incredible memories. Nothing is more irritating than not being able to remember things, a situation which normally happens as we age. A certain amount of memory loss is inescapable; but there are exercises that can help stop short term memory loss. The following ideas may help you to better recall important pieces of information throughout your daily routine.
Mnemonic devices are games that can help you to focus and improve memory skills; they can be both visual and auditory. It is important to determine the best technique that in fact works for you, since the success of mnemonic devices varies from person to person. Visual mnemonics means making the person visually come in front of your mind and talk to you. Formulating simple rhymes and acronyms that are easy to recall can also help to keep valuable facts in your head, like the notes on a piano or the colors of the rainbow.
These are not the only ways to be able to enjoy an improved memory. Try focusing on the specific details being learned, like names and dates, to enhance the function of your short term memory. Utilize as many of your senses as you can when you are presented with information. When meeting someone new, for instance, play close attention to their face and carefully listen to their name. Say the name over again a couple times at the beginning of the conversation in order to lock the details into your memory.
Visual learners could write the information down or visualize it in their head. If you’re an auditory learner, in contrast to a visual learner, try tape recording conversations or repeat information aloud to help yourself remember.
There are other ways to increase your ability to recall information, and they can be great for the rest of your body as well. Some good strategies for keeping your body as well as your mind in the very best form they can be are to get adequate sleep and to exercise on a regular basis. Stress management is another effective means of improving short term memory and information retention. It is important not to smoke and also to watch your diet. Cognitive function can be impacted by smoking since smoking does not let enough oxygen get to the brain.
If you suspect your memory has suffered, the use of these strategies and tricks can help sharpen it considerably. You may even find that your cognitive abilities are better than you thought.

Reducing A Child’s Separation Anxiety Symptoms
It is normal for children to experience separation anxiety when they start leaving home for school. Separation anxiety can trigger a number of behaviors that mimic panic disorder and extreme anxiety in adults including uncontrollable crying, inability to sleep, difficulty concentrating, and feelings of impending doom or disaster. There are some methods that are effective in coping with the condition, and you can easily teach these to your child.
As with other anxiety disorders, an understanding of the mechanisms of the condition is the first step towards a solution.Separation anxiety causes nervousness and fearfulness in children, and they can develop a habit of unrealistic thinking in the process. Some of the symptoms of separation anxiety disorder include the refusal to go to school so that they can stay home with their parents or babysitter, frequent nightmares about being separated, physical symptoms such as headaches and stomachaches, and frequent temper tantrums.
WebMd experts say that the condition often develops after a child experience a traumatic event. Anything from being scolded or losing a toy can trigger the symptoms of separation anxiety, so it’s important to identify the symptoms and then create a plan to lower the feelings of fear and anxiety. Medication and psychotherapy are the usual separation anxiety treatment options. Parents or caregivers also need to pay attention to the child’s diet and lifestyle habits to make sure the child is getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, and is able to go through their day with as little stress as possible. Poor nutrition and inadequate rest can lead to the development of other anxiety disorders.
Psychotherapy, a type of counseling, is one of the most effective and proven ways for treating anxiety in adults, and is also used to treat separation anxiety in children. This type of therapy focuses on helping the child become comfortable with being separated from their caregiver for longer and longer periods of time, and encourages the child to develop appropriate behaviors for dealing with leaving their family. Medication and herbal remedies may be an option for some children suffering from separation anxiety. Antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications and herbal remedies that help to lower stress levels can help the child better cope with the situation and become more comfortable with the idea of being away from their parents or caregiver.
It is important to remember that there are no known methods for preventing separation anxiety. Your best recourse is just to help the child in managing the condition. A more complete approach can be used for difficult cases. Treating this condition early can help the child become stronger and more independent, and allows them to develop healthier coping strategies for managing stress later in life.
